October 17-November 27 Fairfield Reds

October 20 Tom & Mary Dale

  • The Dales from Spring, TX joined me today for a morning of red fishing. I met them last month at a FishingTX outing on Lake Conroe. Plenty of reds but we only managed four keepers, but added about 20 Tilapia.

  • October 23 Shirley & John Zimmer

The lake is up about a foot, the water is cooler and somewhat muddy, a most welcome and needed change. The morning started off slow but soon picked up at the snake farm. Shirley took top honors with a 28.5" red. They did manage a triple. An even  dozen Tilapia fell victim to the net. They left for a coastal visit with Tarpon Express, some people have all the luck.

  • Oct. 25 Gurls Gone Wild on Fairfield

Two out-of-town "hooks," that's what a lady fisherman is called, graced Peanut and me with their presence on Sunday. Karen, a soon to be Richland Chambers resident and her aunt Brenda, the Tyler Rose, provided a most entertaining morning. We cooked, quilted, canned, caught fish, and most exciting went in pursuit of a big Tilapia for Brenda to mount. From time to time I do embellish some stories, but that wasn't necessary on this outing. We had a great time catching all the fish at the very first stop, now appropriately named "in the bushes." The final tally was 30 fish, 15 reds and 15 Tilapia. (Karen and her husband Eddie fished with me Sept. 22 to celebrate her birthday, now she feels a need to have a birthday each month.)
